An excursion to the traditional handicraft villages just outside of Hanoi, immerse yourself into the daily life of the local people and have an unforgettable experience.
9:00 AM: Drive to Le Mat village. Located nearly 7km Northeast of Hanoi, the village is famous for its tradition of catching and farming snakes for over 900 years. On arrival visit the communal house where villagers worship their ancestors, learn about the history of the snake business. Then start your adventure by entering the snake farm to have a better look at how the snakes are raised, fed and trained by local experts. Snakes are available almost everywhere from wine bottles of King Cobras to multiple types of snakes in cages. To enhance the adventure, you may have food with a menu based on snakes and even offered a shot of local wine with a beating snake heart inside ( lunch by your own account) It must be your unforgettable experience.
Continue to Bat Trang Village, located on the bank of the Red River 20km from the Hanoi center. Bat Trang is one of the most famous traditional craft villages in the country, specializing in porcelain crafts. Built over 700 years ago, Bat Trangs’ name has a Chinese origin meaning “a large field where the bowls are made”. Bat means bowl and Trang means a specialized area.
On arrival, we will visit the communal house dedicated to the man who created the porcelain craft village. Make a special visit to a family factory. Your tour guide will explain the processes of making ceramic products and you might have a chance to work with the craftsmen. Stroll around to explore village, visit some traditional ceramic ovens and have a look beautiful products in the shops. Enjoy time for shopping souvenirs.
